VACAVILLE — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Vacaville Assistant City Manager GeorgeAnne Meggers-Smith has announced plans to retire in November 2026, bringing to a close nearly 20 years of service to the city. Her retirement was publicly announced in August.
Local context and next steps
Meggers-Smith joined Vacaville in 2007 as a management analyst. She later worked in the City Manager’s Office, Administrative Services, and Parks and Recreation, and became Assistant City Manager in 2022. The city credits her with helping build neighborhood association programs and an extreme-weather warming center.
Her work also included supporting the Centennial Park Bike Park partnership and a multiyear strategy for improving city data collection and evaluation. A leadership transition can affect how programs are coordinated, but the retirement announcement does not itself cancel any services or prove a program’s future funding.
The city’s statement says Meggers-Smith will continue in her position until her retirement in November and that no replacement had been chosen at the time of the release.
Residents who want to follow an eventual appointment should watch council agendas and official personnel announcements. California58 will distinguish a plan to retire from confirmation of the final departure date or a successor.
