CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL ELECTIONS DESK — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. The mayoral race in Vacaville is separated by only 156 votes. County data show Roy Stockton at 12,751 and Sarah Chapman at 12,595, or approximately 50.31% and 49.69% of 25,346 valid candidate votes. No mayoral winner has been certified.
A countywide ballot backlog is not a city backlog
A county estimate of ballots awaiting processing includes voters from many municipalities, special districts, and unincorporated areas. It would be inaccurate to allocate all such ballots to Vacaville’s mayoral election. The number of unprocessed ballots eligible for this exact contest is not established by the figures quoted here, so California58 makes no forecast.
Separate municipal votes
Vacaville’s Measure V proposes an extra one-cent-per-dollar local sales tax. In the same reported batch, No has 13,615 and Yes 12,257, a 1,358-vote No lead. That is a different ballot question and does not identify which mayoral candidate a voter supported. Read our updated Measure V report. The city’s council contests for Districts 2, 4 and 6 are also distinct.
Why the mayor’s office matters
Mayoral and City Council leadership shapes city budgeting, infrastructure, public safety, housing, and public services through the city government’s procedures. The outcome is determined through official canvassing, not the media’s estimated percentage of expected votes.
What source and timestamp mean
The Solano County results via KQED reflect the November 4, 2026, 7:40 p.m. Pacific county election report, reviewed on November 5. Future reports may add properly validated mail, provisional and other eligible votes. A reported precinct percentage does not equal final certification, and no result in this article is asserted as legally final. The Solano County Registrar of Voters publishes official county canvass updates; California’s statewide certification is scheduled for December 11.
Editorial note: preliminary results and election rules are reported independently of candidate endorsements. Source figures are dated to November 4, not a new November 5 county release.
